Shop Front Scheme

When the Scottish Officer reporter published her findings after the public enquiry into the Sainsbury's development, one of the conditions she attached was that the developers had to make a contribution to projects to benefit the High Street . Now that the Highland Council  have published the breakdown of how the money is to be used, the ANB  are pleased to see that the much hoped for 'Shop Front' scheme is included.

The full details of the scheme are yet to be finalised  but it is hoped that businesses will be able to apply for financial assistance towards  redecorating shop fronts, renewing signage and, very importantly, improving access facilities for any customer with mobility problems or impaired vision.

There will be a maximum figure for any funding offered, once again yet to be finalised but we  understand that the grant will cover half of the cost of any works with the business  funding the balance.
